Central Asia Metals ups copper production 1.5% in first half yearCentral Asia Metals plc (CAML) produced 6,716 tonnes of copper from the Kounrad project in Kazakhstan in January-June 2023, an increase of 1.5% year-over-year, the company said.In the first half of 2022, the Kounrad project produced 6,617 tonnes of copper.The output of zinc in concentrate at the Sasa zinc-lead mine in North Macedonia fell 6.7% in January-June 2023 to 9,764 tonnes, while production of lead in concentrate was down 0.7% to 13,734 tonnes.The full year 2023 guidance for copper stands at 13,000-14,00 tonnes for copper. This year's production target for zinc is 19,000-21,000 tonnes and for lead concentrate 27,000-29,000 tonnes.CAML owns the Kounrad solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) copper facility in central Kazakhstan and 80% of the Shuak copper exploration project in northern Kazakhstan. The company has been operating in Kazakhstan since 2012. The company additionally runs molybdenum and gold projects in Mongolia and a copper project in Chile, as well as developing the Sasa zinc deposit in Macedonia.The company's shareholders include Blackrock Investment (7.22%), JO Hambro Capital Management (7.15%), T Rowe Price Global Investments (6.55%), Hargreaves Lansdown (4.99%), Polar Capital (4.73%), Fidelity International (4.39) and others.Since 2010, CAML securities have been traded on the AIM floor of the London Stock Exchange.
