Kazakhstan's TITR freight shipment up 77% in Jan-June - KTZThe freight shipment via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased by 77.2% in January-June 2023, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC (KTZ) said in a press release following a meeting between the railway operators of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.In the first half of 2023, cargo transportation via the TITR route grew by 77.2% compared to the same period of the previous year to exceed 1.3 million tonnes, according to the press release.The meeting discussed a possibility of creating favorable conditions for transportation of goods. The sides also agreed to jointly resolve issues relating to further development of TITR project, to eliminate administrative barriers and expand the seaport infrastructure.In 2022, cargo traffic through TITR totaled 1.5 million tonnes, which is an increase of 150% from a year earlier, according to KTZ.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is an international transport corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to Turkey and European countries. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is part of the corridor. (ICE ALMATY)
