In the presence of official and civil personalities, the “Sherian” Foundation for Development and Construction in Hama was launched, during a ceremony held by the Foundation Wednesday evening.  Governor of Hama, Dr. Mahmoud Zanboua, underlined the importance of expanding the partnership between the local community and state institutions in decision-making, launching development initiatives and completing service projects that serve the public interest and contribute to building and serving society.  He stressed the governorate’s readiness to support any voluntary initiative and provide all facilities for its success and demonstrate the governorate in the best way in various aspects.  Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sherian Foundation for Development and Construction, Eng. Saria Al-Qasim, stated in the opening speech that the foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that aims to restore public facilities, improve the aesthetic and civilized appearance of the city of Hama, and use alternative energy for street lighting and environmental sustainability to avoid the depletion of natural resources and activate the role of civil society through local initiatives.  Al-Qasim indicated that the Foundation’s first plan began with the launch of a campaign entitled “Light it” aimed at lighting the entire city of Hama in successive stages. This campaign will be followed later by other campaigns concerned with coordinating roads and setting awareness banners and geometrical figures that reflect the civilized appearance of the city, in addition to taking care of public gardens by coordinating trees and installing games and resting seats.  For his part, Hayan Al-Asfar, a member of the “Sherian” Foundation Council, highlighted the need for the civil society to have a more effective role in collective and voluntary work, stressing the importance of this campaign to light the city’s streets because it is of general benefit to the people and it reflects a civilized and aesthetic appearance.
