ITALIAN WARSHIPS DOCK IN INDONESIA TO SUPPORT FREEDOM OF NAVIGATION

The Italian destroyer Francesco Morosini docked in Jakarta to promote naval diplomacy, freedom of navigation, and international law of the sea. The Italian Navy ship arrived at Tanjung Priok Port on July 18 and will remain there until July 22. ITS Francesco Morosini had visited Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia since April, according to Italian Ambassador to Indonesia Benedetto Latteri. “They will visit several foreign ports before returning to Italy in September. "They conduct naval diplomacy," Latteri said at a Jakarta press conference Tuesday. Francesco Morosini's first trip to the Asia-Pacific occurred after the Italian Navy took control of the ship in October. The ship, named after a Republic of Venice soldier, performs patrolling, logistics delivery, surface warfare, and humanitarian missions. Marine Major Giovanni Monno said Morosini's mission to the Asia-Pacific region aimed to boost Italy's connections with allied navies. "This is also an opportunity to collaborate, cooperate, and operate together in the sea, which is a sensitive area for the world's maritime community," added Monno. The 143-meter ship has a hangar for medium-lift anti-submarine helicopters. Morosini's speed—32 knots, or 59.26 km/hour—is its greatest advantage.Link di fonte: https://gorontalo.antaranews.com/berita/226176/kapal-perang-italia-bersandar-di-indonesia-dukung-kebebasan-navigasi (ICE GIACARTA)
