KTZ increased freight turnover by 8.6% in first half yearKazakhstan's Temir Zholy National Company (KTZ), the national railway operator, increased its freight turnover by 8.6% in Jan-June 2023 to 130.4 million tonne-kilometers, the company said in a statement.Transit freight turnover in the reporting period increased by 39.1% and reached 27.8 billion net tonne-kilometers. Container transportation through Kazakhstan increased by 26%."Export cargo shipments from Kazakhstan to China exceeded 5.7 million tonnes, or 27% more than in the first half of 2022. Passenger turnover amounted to 5.7 billion pass-km, or 1.2% higher than in H1 2022," the company said.Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is a transport, warehousing, and distribution company, which is part of Kazakhstan's National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna. KTZ operates the country's railways, the infrastructure of seaports and airports, transportation and warehousing facilities. (ICE ALMATY)
