President Joko Widodo announced that Bandung's PT Pindad Persero will transfer to Subang, West Java, for industrial use. PT. Pindad Persero is an Indonesian state-owned enterprise specializing in military and commercial products and providing armaments and munitions for the Indonesian National Armed Forces and other uniformed agencies, mainly to support the defense and security capabilities of the Republic of Indonesia. On Monday (24/7), Jokowi met with Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of State-owned Enterprise (BUMN) Erick Thohir, and the Main Director and Main Commissioner of PT Pindad in Turen, Malang, East Java. "We will shift Pindad in Bandung, to be moved in stages, to an industrial area in Subang that is owned by the Ministry of BUMN," stated Jokowi. Jokowi claimed BUMN's industrial sector has enough land for PT Pindad's growth.Pindad's land is huge. "Because it's promising," he said. Jokowi said the Pindad munitions production site in Turen would not transfer to Subang. However, if production demand rises, the transfer may be possible. Pindad's defense industry is promising. Development must continue. "Bullets, vehicles, guns, everything. "Because many requests," he added. PT Pindad received IDR 700 billion in 2015 state equity participation (PMN) funding. PT Pindad expanded capacity and ammunition production with PMN support. Pindad produced 275 million bullets before PMN. "After we gave PMN Rp. 700 billion, production almost doubled to 415 million bullets," he stated. Jokowi claimed that PT Pindad needs partners too. "Earlier at an internal meeting, I said that it would be better if we partnered up and that we looked for partners so that Pindad's development would be even faster," he stated.
