FOUR GROUP OF PRODUCTS WITH EXPORT VALUE EXCEEDING US$10 BILLION

According to the latest data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first six and a half months, four groups of products had export value exceeding US$10 billion each, down one group compared with the same period last year.These four groups include 1) computers, electronic products and components, with export value reaching US$22.94 billion; 2) cellphones and components (US$21.93 billion); 3) machinery, equipment, instruments and spare parts (US$17.98 billion); and 4) textiles and garments (US$14.12 billion).The export value of all the four groups decreased sharply compared with the first six and a half months of 2022, with cellphones facing the sharpest decline, by US$5.11 billion, losing their number-one position on the export list, therefore. Major export markets of the four groups of products include the US, China, the EU, the Republic of Korea, Japan and ASEAN countries. In the first six and a half months, Vietnam achieved the total export value of US$148.87 billion, down 12 percent or US$20.34 billion compared with the same period last year.Apart from cellphones and components, other products also faced a decrease in export value, for example textiles and garments down US$2.56 billion or 15.3 percent; timber and wood products down US$2.23 billion or 29 percent; computer electronics and components down US$1.74 billion or sevent percent.
