LOCALLY MADE SOLAR ELECTRIC CAR "LIRA" UNVEILED IN LEBANON

Lebanon has unveiled the "Lira" solar electric car, the first car of its kind entirely manufactured locally. "Lira" represents a remarkable achievement in the field of automotive engineering in Lebanon, as it showcases modern technology, elegant design and solutions for environmentally-friendly sustainable mobility.  Its inventor, Hisham Husami, gave it the name "Lira," to support the national currency in the local industry and to help the Lebanese economy.  "This car is typical, and we invented it to convey a message to the world that we have the capabilities to build factories, to produce cars that run on solar energy to reduce the burdens and the cost of gasoline and transportation in Lebanon. When we invest in the field of solar electric cars, this is a factory that drives the economy, opens job opportunities for youth, and reduces immigration."  Lebanon's economy minister says the government aims to boost the economy, create jobs and attract investors.  The car runs on solar energy during the day and recharges itself. In the absence of the sun, the car is charged with electric batteries and does not need a power station. It can be charged from any household electricity current and has a range of about 200 kilometers. (ICE BEIRUT)
