Francia - Portogallo - Indonesia

On Monday (24/7), Portuguese Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho met Minister Retno Marsudi in Jakarta, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Jakarta-Lisbon trade relationship and exploring non-traditional economic cooperation. Minister Marsudi noted that Portuguese investment in Indonesia increased by 2,000 percent from 2019 to 2022, with renewable energy and blue economy as investment priorities. Minister Marsudi used the meeting with Minister Cravinho to reinforce Jakarta's position on Europe's deforestation and Indonesia's palm oil sector. Despite EU technical help, Indonesia maintains that developing nations with limited capacity to quickly transform their industries to environmentally friendly face the burden of the new law. After the discussion, Minister Cravinho noted that while the EU deforestation stance was part of an important global trend, an effective system was needed to guarantee that countries like Indonesia were not penalized for having a larger wooded area. Minister Marsudi said Cravinho's short visit had sparked a revitalized bilateral partnership. On Friday (21/7), Retno Marsudi and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto visited French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna and Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu. Marsudi stressed the importance of this cooperation to make Indonesia part of the global supply chain for strategic industries and encouraged joint ventures and joint production between Thales and PT Len Industri, an Indonesian SOE that develops and markets electronic equipment. Marsudi also supported French technology transfer and capacity-building for the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency.Link di fonte: (ICE GIACARTA)
