MINISTER OF INDUSTRY WARNS THAT INDONESIA MAY BECOME A TARGET OF FOREIGN HALAL products

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita warns that overseas halal goods manufacturers are targeting Indonesia's Muslim consumer market. At the 2023 Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) Kickoff event on Thursday (27/7), he predicted that Indonesia will become the world's largest halal product market in 2025, consuming USD 281.6 billion compared to USD 184 billion presently. Global halal has even more potential. Even non-Muslim majority countries produce more halal items than Indonesia. Kartasasmita thinks Indonesia's industry has prospects. He stressed that Indonesia must improve its halal goods production. To meet domestic needs, reduce imports, and meet global market demand, Indonesia must expedite halal product growth. M. Ari Kurnia Taufik, Head of the Center for Empowerment of the Halal Sector (PPIH) of the Ministry of Industry, noted that most imported halal items to Indonesia originate from China, which is also growing its halal sector. He stated that Malaysia supplies most Indonesian halal products. As of 2022, 241.7 million Indonesians—87%—are Muslims.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3654795/menperin-waspadai-indonesia-jadi-incaran-produk-halal-asing (ICE GIACARTA)
