INDONESIA-EURASIA ECONOMIC UNION CONCLUDES SECOND ROUND OF TRADE NEGOTIATIONS

Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (UEE) have completed the second round of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (IEaEU-FTA), with the Indonesian delegation led by Director of Bilateral Negotiations, Directorate General of International Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), and the EEU delegation led by the Head of the Department of Trade Regulation Division. The negotiations aim to expand access to non-traditional export markets and open a new era of partnership between the two countries. The agreement covers ten negotiating issues, including trade in goods, trade security, rules of origin, legal provisions, intellectual property rights, competition, e-commerce, trade dispute resolution, trade cooperation, customs procedures, and trade facilitation. The total value of RI-UEE trade in 2022 was $4.35 billion, an increase of 30.66% on an annual basis. Indonesia's trade balance over the UEE experienced a deficit of 1.36 billion US dollars, with exports to the UEE amounting to 1.5 billion US dollars and imports from the UEE amounting to 2.86 billion US dollars. The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (Gapki) welcomed the agreement, aiming to increase crude palm oil (CPO) exports to the UEE and become an alternative market. However, the two countries must address obstacles to trade cooperation, such as Russia's economic sanctions and the ban on container ships entering Russian ports.Link di fonte: https://www.kompas.id/baca/ekonomi/2023/07/29/ri-uni-ekonomi-eurasia-rampungkan-perundingan-dagang-putaran-kedua (ICE GIACARTA)
