To minimize fuel oil dependence, the Indonesian government has increased the request for incentives for electric motorbikes, including conversions of combustion engine-powered motorcycles. The Ministers of Energy and Mineral Resources, Transportation, and Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Head of the Indonesian National Police General, signed a decree. 100 BBM bikes will be converted to electric motorcycles under the Prime Electric Motorcycle Conversion Program. Since domestic manufacturers can create motors and converters with domestic content exceeding 60%, the promotion has strengthened. In some Indonesian districts, electric motorbike conversions require mechanical abilities. The government has offered IDR 7 million to buy new and convertible electric motorcycles. New purchases in 2023 are 200,000, and convertible motorcycles are 50,000. The workshop has only converted 10 motorcycles from combustion engines to electric engines, which takes two hours. Electric motorbike conversion can be accelerated by existing legislation and incentives.
