KUWAITI FIRM ANNOUNCES $431M OF CONTRACT AWARDS

Kuwaiti contractor Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (Heisco) has announced securing contracts totalling KD132.46m ($431.4m) from its customers in Kuwait.The contract award announcements were made by Heisco in June and July in filings to Boursa Kuwait, where its shares are listed.Equate Petrochemical Company, Kuwait Oil Company and Kuwait National Petroleum Company awarded the contracts.The contracts announced by Heisco are as follows:Kuwait Oil Company – water facilities upgradation project (RFP 2032135) – KD18.3m ($59.85m)Kuwait National Petroleum Company – mechanical maintenance services at Mina Abdullah refinery (CB/CMS/2001) – KD91.78m ($298.89m)Equate Petrochemical Company – aromatics TA 2024 area 1 and 3 mechanical lump sum project – KD3.925m ($12.78m)Outside Kuwait, Heisco previously, in June, announced winning a sub-contract on a Saudi Aramco project to build refrigeration units and storage tanks at its Juaymah natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation plant.The value of the sub-contract is SR500m ($133m), Heisco said in a Boursa Kuwait filing. The contract relates to execution of civil and mechanical construction works and the duration is 28 months.Heisco said the job was awarded by the project’s main contractor, without naming its client.In October last year that Egypt-headquartered Engineering for the Petroleum & Process Industries (Enppi) had won the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on the project, estimated to be worth $300m.Through this project, Aramco aims to expand the propane and butane export capacities of the Juaymah NGL fractionation plant, located close to Ras al-Khair on the Gulf coast in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
