Kazakhstan to develop transport and logistics routes to Pakistan via AfghanistanStrengthening of trade relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan will allow to open the new transport and logistics routes with access to the Pakistani market, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumysh said."Along with the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, we are focusing on the development of trade and economic relations with this country. Strengthening bilateral trade relations will allow (...) to form new transport and logistics routes in the southern direction with access to the Pakistani market which numbers 220 million people, and to enter the markets of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East through the Pakistani ports of Karachi and Gwadar," Tumysh said at a briefing on the upcoming Kazakh-Afghan business forum. Also, by cooperating with Afghanistan on transport and logistics, Kazakhstan will be able to intensify the turnover through the Middle Corridor which connects trade routes between the markets of China and the European Union.According to Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev, the Kazakh-Afghan business forum will be held on August 3 in Astana. It is expected that more than 400 representatives of state bodies, the quasi-public sector and business communities of the two countries will take part in it. Afghanistan will be represented by a delegation of over 200 people led by Minister of Trade and Industry Nuruddin Azizi."Among the delegates there are representatives of business, large energy and telecommunications companies, the Central Bank and a number of banks, as well as manufacturers of carpets, drinks and precious stones. I’d like to note that the members of the Afghan delegation are not on the UN Security Council sanction lists and therefore no restrictive measures can be applied to them," Torebayev said at a briefing.
