THE GOVERNMENT FURTHER DELAYS GREATER JAKARTA LRT PUBLIC TRIAL RUN

For the second time in two weeks, the government has delayed the Greater Jakarta light rail transit (LRT) limited public trial run. After a successful internal testing run, the trial will restart on August 5. Due to system difficulties and software improvements, state railway firm Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) terminated the trial run on July 13 after four days. KAI planned to resume the trial for invited public authorities on July 25 and for registered members of the public on July 29 after addressing the error. Erick Thohir, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister, claimed it was a "common thing to do" in megaprojects to delay trains. He stressed that Siemens' system was reliable and trusted British consultants to assess the project's viability. The Transportation Ministry's directorate general of railroads (DJKA) is nearly finished renewing the Greater Jakarta LRT's operational system. The software update improves the automatic train supervision (ATS) and Trainguard MT systems, which establish train distances and intervals and enable fully automated operation. KAI will operate 31 six-car Greater Jakarta LRT trains with 1,308 seats when the service launches. The railway will open for business on August 18.Link di fonte: https://www.thejakartapost.com/business/2023/08/02/govt-further-delays-greater-jakarta-lrt-public-trial-run.html (ICE GIACARTA)
