CROATIA: TOURISM RESULTS SHOW 10% MORE ARRIVALS AND 5% MORE OVERNIGHT STAYS IN January-July

Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) Director Kristjan Stanicic met in the Istrian Town of Rabac with representatives from Istria County to discuss the current state of tourism in Croatia, and it was noted at the meeting that in the current period of this year compared to last year there has been a 10% increase in tourist arrivals to 10.5 million, as well as a 5% rise to 50.3 million overnight stays – while in the month of July this year there were some 3.7 million arrivals and 23 million overnight stays, which is similar to July 2022, Croatian media report.One of the highlights of this positive trend was seen in Istria, the only region in Croatia that has surpassed its record-breaking results from 2019, while in the current period, Istria experienced a substantial 5% increase in arrivals to 2.7 million, and a 4% rise in overnight stays, totaling 14.6 million compared to the same period in 2022. In July of this year Istria recorded over 913,000 arrivals and 6.1 million overnight stays, the same as in the preceding year.The meeting also discussed a strategic marketing and operational plan for Croatian tourism until 2027, the primary aim of which is to bolster the country's tourism sector and enhance cooperation with crucial strategic partners in foreign markets. Additionally, the meeting addressed the implementation of public invitations and tenders to finance tourist board projects, as well as finding solutions to combat illegal renting practices.In his comments at the meeting, Stanicic stressed the importance of this new strategic plan and its potential impact on Istrian tourism, and also emphasized the need for further presentations and workshops in the region due to the comprehensive nature of the document.During the meeting, the significance of the proposed tourist board system was highlighted, as it will play a pivotal role in executing the plan and driving the growth of the tourism industry in Croatia.  (ICE ZAGABRIA)
