CROATIA: CAR SALES IN EU SHOWING STRONG GROWTH, CROATIA ABOVE AVERAGE

According to the data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), car sales in the EU have experienced a strong surge in June 2023, reflecting last year's weak results due to part shortages, with Croatia once again showing a significantly stronger increase than the European average, Croatian media report. In Croatia, ACEA data shows that 7,087 new cars were registered in June, representing a 43.7% increase compared to the same month last year. The number had already risen by 74.5% in May.In Croatia, during the first half of 2023, ACEA data shows 33,435 new cars were registered, representing a 46.2% increase compared to the same period last year.In June 2023, more than a million new cars were registered in 26 European Union (EU) countries, excluding Malta, marking a 17.8% increase compared to the same month last year, ACEA data shows.  Among the leading markets, Germany stood out with a sales growth of 24.8%, followed by Spain and France with increases of 13.3% and 11.5%, respectively. Nearly all EU markets saw growth, with the exception of Hungary, where sales declined by 1.4%.The high growth rates are attributed to the low comparison basis in 2022 when results were mostly affected by the shortages of car parts, explained the ACEA.
