CROATIA:RETAIL SPENDING IN JUNE 2023 UP2.2% FOR 3RDCONSECUTIVE MONTH OF INCREASE

According to the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) seasonally adjusted data published on 28 July, retail spending in June increased by 2.2% compared to the same month last year, marking the third consecutive month of annual growth -- however, on a monthly basis, retail spending declined by 0.6%.The DZS data show that retail spending in June 2023 fell by 0.6% compared to the May 2023, while it strengthened by 2.2% compared to June of the previous year.Although retail spending showed year-on-year growth for the third consecutive month, the pace of growth was slower than the previous month's 3% increase.Breaking down the data, retail sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 1.7%, while sales of non-food products, excluding motor fuels and lubricants, grew by 2.5%.In the first six months of 2023, seasonally adjusted retail trade turnover saw a real increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2022.On a monthly basis, in comparison to May 2023, sales of food products rose by 0.2%, while sales of non-food products, excluding motor fuels and lubricants, declined by 0.8%.
