FUNDING FOR CLEAN ENERGY TECHNOLOGY "START-UP" IS STILL LIMITED

Clean energy technology startups face challenges due to regulations and funding constraints. New Energy Nexus Indonesia, an ecosystem accelerator and global fund for clean energy technology businesses, conducted a survey of 50 cleantech start-ups in the last five years. 86% of them still rely on personal savings and face difficulties in obtaining external funding. Regulations, such as rooftop solar power plants (PLTS) and electric vehicle regulations, also hinder their growth. According to the survey, grants, soft loans, tax incentives, equity, and credit guarantees are the types of support for R&D that people are most likely to expect. Non-financial matters, such as networking, research infrastructure, collaboration with ministries/agencies, and an easy licensing process, are also needed. New Energy Nexus Indonesia recommends a monitoring and evaluation system for government programs related to start-ups and regular communication between stakeholders in the cleantech start-up ecosystem. Since 2019, New Energy Nexus Indonesia has supported 85 start-ups in incubators and 1,893 entrepreneurs, with funding given to cleantech start-ups at an early stage. Leastric, a cleantech start-up, is focused on cloud computing-based electricity management and is open to B2B and B2C markets.Link di fonte: https://www.kompas.id/baca/ekonomi/2023/08/08/pendanaan-startup-teknologi-energi-bersih-masih-terbatas (ICE GIACARTA)
