The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Implementation Task Force for Infrastructure Development for the State Capital City (IKN) found that Nusantara IKN tap water is drinkable. "The quality of tap water at the IKN can be drunk immediately," stated Task Force Head Danis Sumadilaga in Jakarta on Wednesday. Danis explained that a water treatment plant processes the clean water provided to IKN water taps and distributes it over a food-grade pipeline network. The water pipes are coated in concrete and cement to ensure water quality and contain food-grade technology. Drinking water reaches the city and is delivered through multi-utility tunnel (MUT) pipes. Later, when a network requires repair or replacement, the repair person merely needs to enter the MUT. A control room will monitor the MUT infrastructure for damage and leakage. Appendix II of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN declares that the National Capital Region (IKN) will integrate forest cities, sponge cities, and smart cities. IKN regional development is founded on eight principles that value nature, technology, and environmental sustainability. Sustainability balances natural ecology, the built environment, and social systems in IKN planning.
