718-FISHERY MANAGEMENT AREA NEED SURVEILLANCE

Illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing) is still prevalent in 718-fishery management areas in Indonesia, including the Aru Sea, Arafura Sea, and East Timor Sea. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has stopped three fishing vessels suspected of illegal transshipment of fish catches in the Republic of Indonesia's State Fisheries Management Area (WPPNRI)-718 Aru Islands waters. The three vessels, KM LB 99 (263 GT), KM LB III (56 GT), and KM LB 7 (91 GT), are suspected of transferring cargo not with partner ships or in the same business entity. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has issued Circular Letter Number B.1049/MEN-KP/VII/2023 concerning Compliance with Business Actors with the Implementation of the withdrawal of Non-Tax State Revenue in the Form of a post-production Fishery Products levy. The application of post-production levies is expected to boost non-tax state revenues in the fishing sub-sector and advance the marine and fisheries sectors. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is consolidating internally and aims to increase the number of Syahbandar (Harbormasters) at fishing ports with support from the Ministry of Transportation.Link di fonte: https://www.kompas.id/baca/ekonomi/2023/08/13/wilayah-perikanan-718-rawan-praktik-ilegal (ICE GIACARTA)
