Global luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana has opened its first boutique in Sydney, Australia. Located in the MLC Centre in Martin Place, the 469 sqm, two-storey space was a creative collaboration between founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and Carbondale architect Eric Carlson. The store features a two-storey-high window facade and polished Redgum wood displays finished with white onyx that alternates alongside the glass windows. Two concave apses sculpted in yellow gold and yellow Siena Italian marble are situated on either side of the store as backdrops to the men’s and women’s collections. A selection of original Italian baroque furniture - including mirrors, tables, consoles and portals - is featured throughout the store. The boutique’s mezzanine floor is an intimate space fenced by a ‘curtain’ of vertical wooden tubes coated in white veneer and is accessed via a sculptural volcanic rock staircase. The mezzanine floor includes silk and velvet gold damask textiles and marble intarsia floors. The boutique will sell Dolce & Gabbana’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections.
