INDONESIA’S 2024 STATE BUDGET INCREASED BY 5.8% FROM THE 2023 OUTLOOK

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stated that the government has projected the 2024 state revenue to reach Rp2,781.3 trillion (EUR 196.18 billion) sourced from tax, non-tax state revenue, and other  sources of revenue during the presentation on the Bill on the State Budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year and its Financial Note before the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives  on Wednesday (16/8). “The state revenue is planned at EUR 196.18 billion, consisting of tax revenue of EUR 138.8 billion, non-tax revenue of EUR 28.5 billion, and grants of EUR 20 million,” said the President. For state expenditures, the government has allocated a budget of EUR 198 billion, consisting of central government expenditures of EUR 147.1 billion and transfers to the regions of EUR 51.6 billion. The open unemployment rate in 2024 is expected to be reduced to the range of 5.0 percent to 5.7 percent, and the poverty rate is projected to be curbed in the range of  6.5 percent and 7.5 percent. Regarding the optimisation of state revenue, President Jokowi emphasised the importance of continuing the implementation of tax reform and  maintaining an investment-friendly climate, business sustainability, and environmental preservation.
