BAPPENAS EXPLAINED THE FOCUS OF CLIMATE-RESILIENT DEVELOPMENT IN INDONESIA

Indonesia's Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa has emphasized the importance of climate-resilient development in the country. He highlighted the need to strengthen technological infrastructure, governance, funding, and village capacity to prepare for Indonesia Gold 2045. The 2025–2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) aims to establish resilience to disasters and climate change, requiring strategies such as food, water, and energy security, marine and coastal sectors, and health transformation.Suharso emphasized the need for central and regional leaders to promote climate resilience and understand it as a form of socialization and the inheritance of values. Climate change impacts include decreasing rainfall levels by 1-4 percent until 2034, affecting water security, and potentially causing conflicts over water allocation. The El Nino-Southern Oscillation variation cycle, which should occur every 3–7 years, has become shorter to once every 2–5 years. Mitigation is needed to prevent water scarcity, forest and land fires, and decreased food productivity. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) projects a potential decrease in rice production in Indonesia due to El Nino, reducing farmers' income by nine to 20 percent.Link di fonte: https://www.antaranews.com/berita/3689937/bappenas-memaparkan-fokus-pembangunan-berketahanan-iklim-di-indonesia (ICE GIACARTA)
