Kazakh government agencies to purchase office paper only from domestic producersThe government agencies and quasi-public organizations will only be allowed to purchase office paper from domestic producers, according to a draft government resolution published in the Open Online Legal Database.The proposed resolution will be under public discussion until August 18, 2023.According to the document, foreign-made A3 and A4 office paper will not be allowed for government procurement for the following two years.The resolution is aimed at protecting and supporting the domestic producers of office paper.Despite all efforts that have been taken over the past three years to develop domestic paper production, the government agencies and quasi-public organizations mostly purchase foreign-made office paper, according to National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken.In January-April of this year, imports of office and publishing paper soared 51.6% year over year to 6.3 billion tenge in value or rose by 18.5% to 10.9 tonnes in physical terms, Atameken said.
