FOCUS ON SPACE SECTOR PROGRESS

A two-day workshop called the Middle East Space Generation Workshop (ME-SGW) is scheduled to take place in Bahrain next month. The event aims to bring together young professionals, industry experts, and representatives from academia and space agencies to discuss advancements in the space sector. Hosted by Bahrain University in partnership with Bahrain's National Space Science Agency (NSSA), the workshop will feature panel discussions, workshops, and speeches about the space industry's development in the region. The event seeks to foster networking, generate recommendations for the space industry, and facilitate discussions on enhancing the space sector in the Middle East. Working groups will cover topics such as Space and Education, Space Entrepreneurship, Women in Space, Engaging the Younger Generation, and Space Economic Infrastructure. The NSSA has invited individuals aged 18 to 35 who are interested in the space industry to register for the workshop. The discussions' outcomes will be used to shape the future of the Middle Eastern space industry, with reports and recommendations being presented at high-level conferences. The article also highlights recent projects by NSSA, including initiatives related to COP26 commitments, using satellite imagery for various purposes, and the development of Bahrain's first home-built satellite called Al Munther, set to launch in December.
