ALEPPO EXPECTS TO PRODUCE 32,000 TONS OF GRAPES THIS SEASON

The Director of Agriculture in Aleppo, Radwan Harsouni, revealed the rehabilitation of the grape pergolas in several areas of the countryside of Aleppo.  He confirmed that the area of the grape pergolas have now reached 1335 hectares and distributed as follows: An area of ​​942 hectares In Deir Hafer which is mostly located within the regions of the irrigation projects sponsored by the government. It is highly cared for and monitored by the agricultural circles of the region.  Moreover, it achieved remarkable success due to the owners having sufficient experience in taking care of the grape trellises. An area of  293 hectares in Manbij which is under the state’ s control. Finally,  an area in Al-Bab region, of about 100 hectares, where it is historically considered the homeland of vine and grape cultivation. As for the varieties grown in Aleppo, Harsouni mentioned that these are the El Helwany, El Shami White, El Shami Red and the Baladi variety.       .   (ICE BEIRUT)
