PetroVietnam starting geological survey of three investment blocks in UzbekistanPetroVietnam has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan to start exploration work on three investment blocks in the country's northwest, the Republic's Agency for Strategic Reforms reported.The agency hosted a meeting between representatives of the ministries of investment, industry and trade, mining and geology of Uzbekistan with the Vice President of PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corp. Nguyen Tien Bao, the agency said."As a result of the meeting of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan and the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation, agreements were signed on the start of geological exploration of the Kossor, Shorchashma, and Chukurkul blocks in the country," the report says.In February 2010, Uzbekneftegaz and PetroVietnam signed an agreement on the basic principles for conducting geological exploration at the Kossor investment block for a period of five years. In January 2015, PetroVietnam started exploration at another block, Molabaur.In early 2016, the company stopped oil and gas exploration in Uzbekistan due to the situation on the oil and gas market at the time. No further decisions on the blocks allocated to PetroVietnam were announced. (ICE ALMATY)
