CROATIA: VOLUME OF CONSTRUCTION WORK IN JUNE 2023 UP 3.8% Y-O-Y

According to preliminary data published on 28 August by the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS), the volume of construction work in June 2023 was 3.8% higher when adjusted for calendar effects compared to the same June 2022, and 0.7% higher than in May 2023, Croatian media report.DZS data show that in June 2023, the volume of work carried out on buildings was 6.3% higher than in June 2022, while the volume of work on other structures decreased by 0.2%. In comparison to May 2023, the volume of construction work on buildings decreased by 0.4%, while work on other structures increased by 1.8%. In June 2023, 60.8% of work hours on construction sites were dedicated to new construction, with 39.2% allocated to reconstruction, repairs, and maintenance. Work on buildings accounted for 53.1% of work hours, while work on other structures made up 46.9%.Statistics based on original indices show that in the first six months of this year, the volume of construction work increased by 3.2% compared to the first six months of 2022. During this period, the volume of work carried out on buildings increased by 6.7% compared to the period from January to June 2022, while the volume of work on other structures decreased by 2.3%.
