In response to this week's cabinet decision to remove subsidies on fertilisers and promote advanced irrigation techniques, a major Iraqi fertiliser manufacturer has said it will assist farmers during the transition to the new system.While supporting this government initiative to  increase the yield of agricultural land, reduce the dependence on river water, and counteract potential corruption stemming from the resale of fertilisers by farmers, AAA Holding Group (AHG) said the announcement has raised concerns among small-scale farmers who might find it challenging to afford they fertilisers they need for their crops.Recognising this challenge and the vital role that fertilisers play in crop production, the company has come forward with an offer to support Iraq's agricultural projects.Amet Selman, CEO of AAA Holding Group, told Iraq Business News:"We understand the significant role fertilizers play in crop yield and the potential financial strain the recent changes might place on our hard-working farmers."To support our nation's farmers and the broader goal of agricultural sustainability, we're offering deferred payment options and exploring other alternatives for fertilizer provisions."He added that this initiative by AAA Holding Group aims to ensure that no farmer is left behind in the transition phase and that the agricultural output remains robust.
