CROATIA: : IN JULY 2023 NUMBER OF BUILDING PERMITS LOWE 0.1% Y-O-Y

According to the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) data published on 14 September,, in July 2023, Croatia issued 774 building permits, which is 0.1% less than in July 2022, Croatian media report.Regarding the types of buildings, 85.8%, or 664 permits in July 2023 were issued for residential structures, while 14.2% or 110 permits, were for other constructions such as roads, railways, pipelines, bridges, sports fields. On an annual basis, the number of building permits for residential structures decreased by 0.4%, while permits for other constructions increased by 1.9%.The permits issued in July 2023 are associated with construction works valued at EUR 423 million, which is approximately 7.8% higher than in the same period last year. Out of this, EUR 283 million is allocated to residential buildings, and EUR 139 million to other construction projects.In terms of the types of construction work, 77.8% or 602 permits, were issued for new construction projects in July 2023, while 22.2%, or 172 permits, were for reconstruction projects.The building permits issued in July 2023 are for the construction of 1,590 apartments, which is 18.2% less than in July 2022.According to DZS data, in the first seven months of 2023, Croatia issued 6,573 building permits, representing a 2.9% increase compared to the same period the previous year. The expected value of these construction works amounts to EUR  3.75 billion, marking a 28.7% increase from the previous year. Out of this total, EUR 2.7 billion is for residential buildings, and approximately EUR 1 billion is for other construction projects.Based on the building permits issued in the first seven months of this year, the construction of 9,938 apartments is anticipated, which is 9.1% less than in the same period of 2022.
