President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Wednesday (13/9) that the government has completed 161 national strategic projects (PSN) in the past eight years, providing jobs to at least 11 million workers. “What’s more important is that the projects enhance our competitiveness,” said the president. Citing data from the International Institute for Management Development, which showed that Indonesia’s competitiveness rank rose from 44 in 2022 to 34 in 2023, he argued that this was the highest surge in the world thanks to the infrastructure projects. The President urged all ongoing or pending projects to have deadlines and clear objectives by the first semester of 2024. He also called on all stakeholders to be cautious when confronted with any problem and immediately seek solutions. Additionally, according to studies carried out by the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development, Prospera, and other institutions, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the PSN had contributed to the development of equality across the nation.
