GAS PROJECTS WORTH OVER $660M UNDERWAY IN UNPRIVILEGED REGIONS

The head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has said gas projects worth over 330 trillion rials (about $663.1 million) are currently underway in less developed regions across the country, IRNA reported.Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the inauguration of a gas transmission project in northwestern Ardebil Province on Thursday, Majid Chegeni said: “The projects of the National Iranian Gas Company are in the form of a chain and the parliament will definitely support these projects.”According to Chegeni, currently, over 98 percent of the urban population, as well as 90 percent of the country’s rural population, have access to natural gas through the national network.The official noted that only a few cities and about 7,000 villages across the country have not been supplied with gas through the pipeline network.“Currently, 1,260 cities and more than 35,000 villages in the country enjoy natural gas through the national network,” Chegeni has said.
