President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), on Friday, conducted an inspection of the progress in construction of ministerial-position tread houses in the development area of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Based on pictures of activities received from the Presidential Secretariat's Press Bureau in Jakarta, President Jokowi was briefed on the progress in the project from Director General of Housing at the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry Iwan Suprijanto. The houses are being built with the ground floors serving as an office area with terraces, working spaces, waiting rooms, and guests' bedrooms, while the upper floors functioning as a private area comprising family rooms, master bedrooms, and children's bedrooms. Furthermore, each house will be equipped with complete furniture, with the building measuring 580 square meters and situated on around one thousand square meters of land. Earlier, on August 25, Director General Suprijanto stated that his side was aiming to make the houses habitable by mid-2024. He also noted that the PUPR Ministry would initially conduct a commissioning or inspection on the houses in July of 2024 before declaring them as habitable accommodation. In terms of the aesthetic aspects, the PUPR Ministry is developing the houses by applying Indonesia's traditional elements to the building design to showcase the beauty of Indonesian culture. "We are also applying Indonesia's traditional elements to the building design," Hujurat, an official at the PUPR Ministry's Directorate General of Housing, stated on July 21. President Jokowi, in addition to inspecting the progress in development of the ministerial houses, also made the most of his visit to the IKN development site to personally check the development and arrangement of an open space called Sumbu Kebangsaan (National Axis).
