PESA, AS PART OF A CONSORTIUM, WILL DELIVER 132 TRAMS TO JERUSALEM

JTrain, a consortium of 4 companies has won the contract to build and operate the blue tram line in Jerusalem. The project involves the construction of over 31 km of tracks for three lines between Gilo and Talpiot in the south and Ramat Eshkol and Ramot in the north of the city (the line will branch on both sides of the city). The route will include a 2.5-kilometer tunnel in the center. There are 53 stops planned, three of which will be underground. The investment also includes a depot in Malkah.Under the contract, Polish company Pesa is to produce and deliver 132 one-way, double-sided trams. They will be arranged "backwards" into two-way trains with a total length of 66 m. An option for another 30 vehicles is also planned. According to the manufacturer, the vehicles will be based on the solutions and design of Twists delivered to Częstochowa.The value of the entire turnkey construction contract is approximately EUR 4 billion, of which Pesa's share is EUR 400 million. The first vehicles are expected to arrive in 2027, and the line will be launched in stages by 2030. JTrain will be responsible for operating the line for a period of seven years with an option for a further 18 years. The contract also includes infrastructure maintenance services for a period of 25 years.
