EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK PREPARES IDR 1.6 TRILLION FOR MRT JAKARTA PROJECT

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has allocated 1 billion euros ($1.6 trillion) to support the development of sustainable transportation through the Jakarta MRT. Sunita Lukkhoo, head of EIB Group for Southeast Asia and Pacific, believes that this financial support could help Indonesia promote sustainable transportation and the energy transition aimed at overcoming climate change. EIB is a policy-driven bank that provides funding for sustainable and environmentally friendly projects. Lukkhoo has committed to financing the project, which is still a large project, and aims to encourage people to switch from polluting private transportation to environmentally friendly public transportation. He believes that transportation is one of the biggest emitters of carbon dioxide (CO2), and the MRT can help reduce this by promoting mass transportation. European Union Ambassador to ASEAN, Sujiro Seam, welcomed the initiative, stating that the MRT can help reduce traffic jams and air pollution in Jakarta. Seam also noted that the MRT will reduce traffic jams and air pollution, and the bank has many partners from various countries to invest in Indonesia.Link di fonte: https://amp.kompas.com/money/read/2023/09/23/201000226/bank-investasi-eropa-siapkan-rp-16-triliun-untuk-proyek-mrt-jakarta (ICE GIACARTA)
