BENGHAZI CHAMBER HOSTS CHAD DELEGATION – DISCUSS COMMERCE AND TRANSIT TRADE

The Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture hosted at its Benghazi headquarters yesterday a delegation representing the Chadian Ministry of Transportation, the Land Freight Office of the Chadian Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, and the Chadian Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture, Mines and Handicrafts.The Benghazi Chamber reported that the meeting was organised in cooperation with Al Watan Holding Company.The meeting, the Chamber reported, dealt with supporting and enhancing joint work opportunities in various economic, commercial and investment fields, as well as discussing mechanisms and ways to settle and activate transit trade and overcome all obstacles that may be encountered in commercial activities between the two parties.Transit trade convoy to ChadIt will be recalled that on 9 September Benghazi Chamber had reported the launch of the transit trade caravan (convoy) from the port of Jaliana, Benghazi Free Zone to Chad, via Kufra.The transit trade convoy, branded the Al-Jowfe Caravans, is conducted by the Al-Watan Transport and Logistics Services and Al-Watan Shipping Agencies – part of Al-Watan Holding Company.The Benghazi Chamber reported that company transports all types of goods in transit to Chad. Their service includes ‘‘protection and tracking through Libyan territory’’, passing through the Al-Jowfe Free Zone in the southern city of Kufra.Al-Watan Holding Company reported that it had launched its Al-Jowfe Caravans Initiative from Benghazi in February this year due to growing demand for transit trade. It has a secure main operating centre in the Al-Jowfe Free Zone in the city of Kufra.It had reported that the trip from the port of Benghazi to the Libyan-Chadian border point takes less than ten days. Until the middle of this year, it reported that there have been seven convoys totalling over 100 trucks. (ICE TRIPOLI)
