INTERNATIONAL TOURIST ARRIVALS IN VIETNAM SURGE IN JAN-SEPT

HCMC – Vietnam has reported some 8.9 million international tourist arrivals between January and September, a 4.7-fold increase compared to the same period last year, showed data from the General Statistics Office. However, international tourist arrivals in the first few months of this year were only 69% of the figure recorded during the same period in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic struck the country.Out of the 8.9 million international tourists who visited Vietnam so far this year, 87.5% arrived by air, 11.8% by road, and the remaining by sea.In September alone, over one million international tourists have come to Vietnam, a 13.4% decline compared to the previous month.Revenue from accommodation and dining services in the year to date has expanded by 16%, while revenue from tourism and travel services has surged by 47.7% year-on-year.The strong performance in the inbound tourism sector can be attributed to the various measures taken by authorities to boost tourism, coupled with increased demand from travelers following a period of suspension during the Covid-19 pandemic.
