LITHUANIA:11.1 PCT INCREASE IN FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION VOLUMES POSTED FOR Q2

The total volume of freight moved by all modes of transport in Lithuania went up by 11.1 percent in the second quarter of 2022 year-on-year to 39.5 million tons, the country's State Data Agency said on Friday.Freight transportation by inland waterways jumped 55 percent. The volumes of freight carried by roads rose 13.2 percent. Freight transported by road went up by 13.2 percent, and freight shipped by rail grew 7.8 percent. Freight transported by sea went down 17.2 percent.Domestic freight transportation amounted to 16 million tons, up 23.5 percent from a year earlier, while international freight transportation amounted to 23.5 million tons, up 3.9 percent.Rail freight in and out of the country amounted to 1.3 million tons, down 26.5 percent. Due to the existing restrictions, rail freight in and out of Belarus decreased by 76.9 percent, and road freight in and out of Belarus increased by 11 percent to 3.2 million tons. (ICE VARSAVIA)
