KUWAIT AWARDS AIRPORT TERMINAL CONTRACT

Kuwait's Ministry of Public Works (MPW) has awarded a contract for the expansion of terminal two at Kuwait International airport (KIA).The contract, which covers package three of terminal two, was awarded to the Turkish contractor Limak Holding. Package three covers the construction of aircraft parking aprons, taxiways and service buildings.In June, Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation had invited firms to bid by 10 October for the contract to operate terminal two at KIA.Companies invited include Ireland’s DAA International, Germany’s Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, India’s GMR Airports, South Korea’s Incheon Airport Corporation, Germany’s Munich Airport International and Turkiye’s Tav Havalimanlari Holding.The contract covers the operations, management, training, maintenance and development for terminal two and its airside areas.Turkish contractor Limak has been working on the construction of the passenger terminal since it was awarded an estimated $4.3bn contract in 2016.In May, MPW awarded a $223m contract to China Gezhouba Group Corporation for the construction of crossroads for the new terminal two at Al-Muqawa Road.
