The Indonesian Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has expressed regret over the auction of imported textiles and textile products (TPT) by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) through the Customs and Excise Main Service Office (KPU BC) Type A Tanjung Priok. The auction legalizes products that do not comply with Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and illegal imports entering the domestic market. The Ministry of Industry spokesperson, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, emphasized the need for coordination between the DJBC and the Ministry of Industry to control the flow of TPT products that do not comply with SNI or come from illegal imports. The domestic textile and apparel industry is facing significant challenges due to the global economic slowdown, with the textile and apparel subsectors experiencing contraction due to the large number of imported goods circulating domestically. If the products are illegally imported, the Ministry of Industry proposes to destroy them to avoid disrupting the domestic market.
