A BREAKTHROUGH IS NEEDED TO ATTRACT FINANCING FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Indonesia must innovate to support high-cost energy transformation projects by combining financial sources with carbon credits or carbon monetization. That's according to Khoon Tee Tan, senior partner and managing partner at McKinsey & Company Indonesia, which sells carbon credits to give companies a return on investment.Carbon credits must be verified for indirect financing of projects. To achieve net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060, Indonesia is pursuing several financing packages worth IDR 400 trillion per year.At the G20 summit in Bali, the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) was agreed for $20 billion, or IDR 310 trillion. The CIPP document is expected to be published by the end of 2023.The general picture, however, is not yet clear, as the Western countries participating in the JETP prefer that financing be aimed at renewable energy projects rather than dedicated to the early closure of coal-fired power plants promoted by Indonesia.Link di fonte: https://www.kompas.id/baca/ekonomi/2023/10/04/perlu-terobosan-untuk-gaet-pendanaan-proyek-transisi-energi (ICE GIACARTA)
