As announced, Scania will have discontinued bus body production in its plant in Słupsk by the end of Q1 of 2024, which is expected to throw up a number of challenges for the local authorities as Scania is one of the biggest employers in the city. As noted by Portalsamorzadowy.pl, Scania representatives assure that employees have received an adequate social package and support, including subsidies for training courses, severance pays and even relocation allowances. However, the main challenge for those laid off by Scania remains to find a new job while the local authorities are looking for a new investor that would launch a new production facility on the basis of the existing infrastructure.
