DECLINE IN ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION AND GENERATION
Based on data from Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne and the Energy Market Agency (ARE), Instrat analysts have calculated that during the first eight months of 2023 the demand for electricity fell by 7.4 percent compared to previous years. Meanwhile, ARE’s figures show that in H1, electricity consumption fell by more than 4 percent compared to the year-earlier period while in industry alone consumption shrank by 11 percent during the first three months of 2023 compared to last year. Commenting on the matter, Instrat’s analyst Bernard Swoczyna notes that the downward trend is due to both increased energy efficiency and the general economic situation. (ICE VARSAVIA)
