DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER INAUGURATES FIRST AQUACULTURE COMPANY IN BAHRAIN

Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa emphasized the importance of encouraging Bahraini investors to invest in food industries, particularly aquaculture, to enhance food security and diversify supply chains through effective private-sector partnerships. This aligns with the visions and policies of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government, led by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.As part of the government's 2023-2026 program, projects promoting food security will be supported. This includes offering investment plots in plant agriculture, animal husbandry, and fish farming, with support and access to advanced technologies to boost food production.During a visit to the National Aquaculture Centre in Ras Hayyan, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla inaugurated the Gulf Aquaculture Company, a pioneering initiative for farmed shrimp production in partnership with the private sector. The goal is to enhance local food security.The Deputy Prime Minister encouraged Bahraini investors to consider similar projects to bolster the national economy while producing safe, high-quality local food.He also stressed the importance of creating opportunities for investors to cultivate species aligned with consumer needs while promoting environmental sustainability and reducing the depletion of marine resources.The Deputy Prime Minister's visit and support for the Gulf Aquaculture Company reflect the government's commitment to public-private partnerships for the benefit of the nation and its citizens.The Gulf Aquaculture Company aims to supply fresh shrimp to the local market throughout the year, maintaining high quality standards and competitive prices, with an annual production capacity of at least 170 tons, supported by modern technologies and national expertise.
