Kazakhstan could ramp up oil exports to Germany to 2 mln tonnes/year via Druzhba pipeline - Kazakh Energy MinistryKazakhstan could boost oil exports to Germany from 1.2 million tonnes to 2 million tonnes per year via the Druzhba pipeline, Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said in a statement."We are talking about a volume of up to 2 million tonnes per year, though the final volume will be determined after negotiations," Satkaliyev told reporters on Friday in Astana in response to a question about increasing oil exports to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline.Satkaliyev said that Germany expressed interest in boosting supplies of Kazakh oil during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to the country.According to Satkaliyev, negotiations are currently underway with the management company involved in German refineries on the matter of increasing exports of Kazakh oil, as well as with the Russian side regarding ensuring unobstructed pumping via Druzhba."The volume of oil supplies will be determined based on the results of the talks," Satkaliyev noted.Kazakhstan began supplying oil to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline as part of diversifying its oil export routes. Kazakhstan's KazTransOil has a quota from Russia's Transneft pipeline operator to pump 1.2 million tonnes of crude to Germany in 2023, with the first consignment shipped in February 2023.It was reported in August that Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, which operates the Karachaganak field development, plans to pump 1.2 million tonnes of oil via the Druzhba pipeline in 2024.
