KAZAKHSTAN-AZERBAIJAN-ELECTRIC POWER

Kazakhstan to supply clean electricity to Azerbaijan via cable under Caspian SeaKazakhstan is considering the possibility of supplying clean electricity to Azerbaijan through a cable that will be laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev said.“We are considering the possibility of supplying clean electricity from the Caspian region to Azerbaijan by means of laying a high-voltage cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. We have already begun preliminary discussions with our Azerbaijani colleagues, it will also allow us to connect with the energy system of the Caucasian states,” Satkaliyev told reporters in Astana on Friday. In addition, the head of the Ministry of Energy noted that Kazakhstan will also continue to purchase electricity from Russia during periods of peak loads.“Based on the architecture of the existing national energy system, we work in parallel mode with the energy systems of the Russian Federation and Central Asia, and joint work provides a fairly large number of advantages in terms of ensuring mutual redundancy and mutual supplies of electricity. Here we see only huge advantages,” he emphasized. (ICE ALMATY)
