MIH ANNOUNCES FIRST PLATFORM TECHNOLOGY ADOPTER AT JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW

Taipei, Oct. 26 (CNA) The MIH Consortium, a Foxconn-initiated open EV alliance, announced on Thursday in Tokyo the first licensing of its design and technologies to M Mobility, a startup with Indian multinational information technology services and consulting firm Tech Mahindra as a strategic investor.MIH CEO Jack Cheng (鄭顯聰) at the Japan Mobility Show on Thursday showcased the consortium's Project X three-seater concept car and introduced Project Y, a project that is expected to further develop electric trucks and vans and, together with Project X, fulfill the needs for future smart cities, according to the CEO.The consortium's Project X -- including the battery-swapping three-seater showcased and the proposed future 6-seaters and 9-seaters -- is looking to "redefine urban mobility" and will be used for the shared economy and by the service providers, said Cheng at the live-streamed MIH press conference in Tokyo.The projects of MIH, a platform that has more than 2,700 members split into 14 working groups targeting different solutions, will revolutionize the future by making cities smarter and decarbonizing them at the same time, Cheng said.Cheng also announced at the press conference the licensing of the alliance's technologies to its "first adopter" M Mobility, a startup that provides a total solution for commercial EVs and will target the B2B mobility market.M Mobility is strategically invested in by Tech Mahindra, a major IT service provider in India, and will target markets in Japan, India and Thailand, according to Cheng.During the event it was also announced that M Mobility has already started collaboration with Hakobune, a Japanese EV and energy management company established by Sumitomo Corp., with its main service being providing EVs, on a subscription basis, to corporations for commuting employees and setting up charging equipment close to their offices.A total of 15 MIH co-exhibitors also attended the show, according to Cheng, including Foxconn Industrial Internet, Foxconn Interconnect Technology, Tech Mahindra, Tier IV, a Japanese startup for the research and development of intelligent vehicles, Sonatus, an automobile software company based in the U.S., semiconductor manufacturer Infineon and Taiwanese electric scooter company Gogoro.(By Alison Hsiao)Enditem/AW (ICE TAIPEI)
