The Polish Economic Institute (PIE) has reported that compared to the EU countries, the Polish economy is doing well, with retail sales up by 1.4% y/y in October 2023, compared to a downward trend in the EU, with the largest declines recorded in Belgium (-8.4 %), Germany (-4.3 %) and France (-2.7 %). According to PIE’s analysts, the quick monitoring survey recently published by the National Bank of Poland (NBP) indicates that businesses are more optimistic about the future as the economic situation has begun to improve.
