The Research Institute for Economic Development at the Warsaw School of Economics has reported that in Q4, 2023 the business climate index in the construction industry IRGCON stands at minus 9.9 points, down by 5.3 points compared to the preceding quarter but up by 3.4 points compared to Q4, 2022. The level of the index indicates that the current situation in the construction sector is still worse than before the COVID-19 pandemic as the index is 8.3 points lower than the average for the fourth quarters of the years 2017-2019. As noted by the institute, as in Q3, the main hurdles to construction activities include high prices of raw materials, excessive tax burdens and a lack of legal certainty. (ICE VARSAVIA)
